This week, the University has been closely monitoring the increase in COVID-19 cases, in the D.C. area and across the country. The University has released new guidance for campus events and operations, including the cancellation of events and large gathering through at least April 5.
Given this guidance, we write to inform you that WAMUNC XXII, on April 2-5, 2020, has been cancelled. We greatly appreciate your patience as we have been evaluating next steps for WAMUNC amid the COVID-19 concerns.
As we have monitored the situation and received more updates, we have determined that it is important to take steps that protect everyone's health. Along with that, D.C. Health Department officials are recommending that non-essential mass gatherings, including conferences and conventions be postponed or canceled.
Again, we very much appreciate the patience you have given us in this situation. We know that this decision has many implications for you and your students. We are continuing to work with the hotel, and continue to ask for your patience as we navigate these ongoing conversations. Any updates, especially with regards to possible refunds, will be communicated as information becomes available.
Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions.
